Alameda County Board of Supervisors Advocates Release of ARPA Funds to Hospitals

Who

  • Hospital Council
  • Alameda County hospital leaders
  • Alameda County Board of Supervisors

What

Last month the Hospital Council discussed allocating American Rescue Plan Act funding to hospitals with the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.  Supervisors were surprised that hospitals had not received more federal COVID-19 relief funding and offered to help advocate on our behalf. On July 19, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors’ Personnel/Administration/Legislation Committee approved sending a letter from the county to its Congressional delegation in support of releasing unallocated money from the Provider Relief Fund to hospitals. The board has also asked its federal lobbyist to track this issue and keep it informed.

Takeaway/Next Steps

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors’ letter is expected to be approved by the full board on Aug. 3 and sent out soon after. The letter will bolster CHA’s ongoing work to secure the release of the unallocated money from the Provider Relief Fund for California hospitals.
