Sonoma County Appoints New Director of Health Services

Who

• Tina Rivera, director of health services
• Members of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors
• Crestwood Behavioral Health
• Kaiser Permanente, Santa Rosa
• Providence, Santa Rosa
• Sutter Santa Rosa

What

Following nearly one year as interim director of health services, Tina Rivera was officially appointed to the position of director of health services by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. Rivera’s official appointment comes as the county’s public health officer, Sundari Mase, MD, is under fire for recently surfaced DUI charges.

As the newly opened psychiatric health care facility begins to accept patients, Sonoma County is grappling with equitable dissemination of $96 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, working on the recovery of a tourism industry hit hard by two years of pandemic austerity, and the Board of Supervisors is evaluating allegations of racial bias. Sonoma County hospitals are maintaining their focus on providing quality health care to patients and working with community partners to optimize health outcomes. Hospitals look forward to collaborating closely with Rivera and her team to ensure the best possible health care for residents of Sonoma County.
