What

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new UC Davis Health Rehabilitation Hospital took place on April 18. This facility is a joint venture between UC Davis Health and Lifepoint Health (formerly Kindred). It has 52 beds, including a locked unit for people with traumatic brain injuries, a transitional “apartment,” and an outdoor garden with varied surfaces for ambulation training. Ceiling lifts for bariatric patients, cutting-edge function restoration technology, and LEED certification make the facility a notable addition to Sacramento’s health care landscape.

The addition of this hospital will relieve strain on general acute care hospitals in Northern California and provide rehabilitation above the level of skilled nursing. The hospital is still waiting for approval for its clinical laboratory improvement amendments license in order to receive its first patient.
