“I believe in hope. I also believe in the power of hard work.” — Ted Lasso
Health care is, at its core, an ultimately hopeful field. From saving the lives of extremely premature babies to performing complex surgeries that would have been impossible only a few years ago, those who work in hospitals make miracles happen every single day.
These miracles are a testament to the innovation, dedication, and perseverance shown in your hospitals day in and day out — and as we celebrate National Hospital Week, Hospital Council is honored and grateful for the opportunity to pause, reflect, and celebrate for all you do.
The strength of our field has never been more apparent than it was over the past two weeks, as we joined member hospitals with the leadership of our OneTeam partner, the California Hospital Association, in Washington, D.C., for two key advocacy opportunities — the American Hospital Association’s annual meeting and the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s “Cap-to-Cap” event (more on those events below).
As we listened to our hospitals advocate, communicate, and demonstrate to members of Congress to do right by their patients, we were struck by hospitals’ tenacity and commitment to serve all who need care. Regardless of the challenges faced — looming cuts to Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California), workforce shortages, and increasing patient volumes, to name just a few — hospital staff get up every morning and continue the mission of caring for others on what are often their worst days.
While it may be hope that propels us forward, it’s hard work that keeps your doors open. Hospital Council is proud to support you. Thank you, this and every week, for all you do to make California stronger.
