Partnership HealthPlan Expanding to 10 More Counties

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

Who

  • Partnership HealthPlan of California
  • Counties of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba

What

For many years, 14 of the counties in the Northern Sierra Section have had a county-organized health system, Partnership HealthPlan of California (Partnership), as their sole Medi-Cal managed care plan. This structure has proven so popular that the 10 remaining counties in the Northern Sierra Section petitioned the state — through their boards of supervisors — to invite Partnership into their counties. On Oct. 19, the Partnership board took the final, decisive vote to expand to these 10 counties as of Jan. 1, 2024.

Even before the vote, preparations for expansion had been underway for months with the opening of new regional offices. Hospital Council will work closely with Partnership to aid in a smooth transition from the current Anthem and California Health & Wellness plans.

Takeaway / Next Steps

The Medi-Cal managed care plan expansion will be effective Jan. 1, 2024.
