What

On June 20, the Sacramento City Council’s Law and Legislation Committee considered a proposed ordinance to institute a $25/hour minimum wage on all health care organizations within the city. Hospital Council coordinated the opposition to this move, mobilizing a strong showing at the hearing.

The opposition collation persuaded three out of four committee members that there are legitimate concerns. Rather than advancing the proposal to the full City Council for potential adoption, it decided to commission an economic and health impact assessment to be considered by the committee in the fall. The earliest it would be considered is September; likely even later in the year. This is a significant victory.
