Hospitals Discuss Winter COVID-19 Surge

What:

On Nov. 29, hospitals from the Fresno-Madera-Tulare-Kings Section met with Hospital Council, local public health, and state officials to discuss the impacts of the current COVID-19 wave and pre-plan for a winter surge. Hospitals discussed issues related to staffing, supplies, and transfers. CalOES reiterated its commitment to providing staff to assist with the surges. In addition, the group was able to discuss what has worked and can be improved upon based on the experiences of the past 21 months.

Takeaway/Next Steps:

The hospitals and local public health will continue to meet this month, and in January, CalOES and CDPH will be invited back for a status check and a discussion of any further action.
