  • San Mateo Public Health Department

What

On July 17, the San Mateo Section CEOs were joined by San Mateo Public Health Officer Kismet Baldwin-Santana, MD, MPH. Dr. Baldwin-Santana gave the group an update on several items including COVID-19, H5N1, and a possible collaboration on a community health needs assessment (CHNA). The CEOs directed the RVP to begin discussions with the county behavioral health department regarding Senate Bill (SB) 43 planning. In addition, San Mateo County hospital leaders will have a special meeting in September with San Mateo County leadership to discuss the county’s budget challenges and receive updates on the implementation of SB 43, the changes Proposition 1 will bring, and continued cuts to public health funding.

Takeaway/Next Steps

  • Begin conversations with behavioral health director and county leadership regarding SB 43
  • Begin conversations with hospitals and public health around the CHNA process
