Medical Transcription: A Job Only a Human Can Do

Linda Bush and Phyllis Scroggins, two medical transcriptionists in Community Health System’s Health Information Management department, represent just a small fraction of an essential service in the health care field.

For more than 50 years, Linda and Phyllis painstakingly have listened to and transcribed doctors’ recorded notes nearly word-for-word into patient records. Their work has been augmented by technological advances as well as the hearing skills they’ve honed over the past five decades. Both women take immense pride in their work — a role that is being celebrated by the entire health system.
