On behalf of our hospital members in four Bay Area counties, Hospital Council submitted a letter of support for a collaborative proposal from six workforce development boards in response to the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Good Jobs Challenge funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. The proposal will expand and strengthen health care workforce development throughout the region, give more workers access to career pathways and paid work experience that leads to employment at self-sufficiency wages, and help hospitals fill open positions now and in the future. There is a strong focus on achieving equity and diversity in the workforce.
Takeaway/Next Steps
The Good Jobs Challenge will distribute a total of $500 million in grants to 25 areas across the country. Proposals are due in February. Grant awards are expected to be announced in July.
