The Sacramento Region Behavioral Health Task Force held a robust discussion on impacts and nuances related to child protective services foster youth ending up in an emergency department due to a mental health condition.
A workgroup was established to exchange solutions and educate one another on the complexities of caring for system-involved youth in acute hospital settings. This group completed mapping out a step-by-step guide to be used by hospital personnel as a checklist of what to do when system-involved youth end up in the emergency department.
